San Diego, CA (January 7, 2026) – Two people were injured in a high-speed crash near the entrance of Scripps Hospital La Jolla late Monday night, according to emergency dispatch reports.
The incident was reported around 9:40 p.m. on January 6. First responders arrived to find a small two-door convertible that had collided with a tree at approximately 60 miles per hour. Both airbags deployed, and seatbelts were in use at the time of the crash.
One patient suffered severe trauma and was transported to the hospital with a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score of 8, indicating reduced consciousness. The second individual sustained diffuse neck pain and was also taken to Scripps Hospital for medical evaluation. Both patients were in stable condition upon arrival but remained under close observation.
Crews placed both individuals in full spinal precautions as a precaution due to the nature of the impact and the reported injuries.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding the cause of the crash, and it remains under investigation.
