Pedestrian Injuries in Vehicle Crashes Near Work Areas
Pedestrian crashes can cause serious injuries because people outside vehicles have little protection from impact. Workers near roads may face added risks from nearby traffic, turning vehicles, and limited space along shoulders or intersections.
Work areas near busy roads can change quickly. A worker may be close to equipment, landscaping zones, or parked vehicles while traffic continues nearby. Drivers may also have less time to react if a person is near the edge of the roadway.
After a pedestrian crash, medical evaluation is often needed right away. Head trauma, broken bones, and internal injuries may not be fully clear at the scene. Road layout, driver movement, and visibility may later help explain how the crash happened.
