Chesapeake, VA (January 7, 2026) – Two people were left temporarily trapped after a rollover crash Monday afternoon near the intersection of George Washington Hwy S and Highway 17 in Chesapeake, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:36 p.m. on January 5. According to dispatch communications, one vehicle was found on its side with two occupants still inside. Emergency crews from multiple fire and medic units responded to the scene, working to access and assist the trapped individuals.
Crews made verbal contact with both occupants, who were alert but initially unable to exit the vehicle. Rescue personnel quickly initiated extrication procedures, while medical teams staged nearby to begin evaluations once the individuals were freed. Medic 9, Medic 11, and Medic 12 were among the units dispatched to the scene.
The collision caused disruptions near the busy intersection, with traffic delays as crews operated in the median and surrounding lanes. The cause of the crash has not yet been released, and it’s unclear whether any other vehicles were involved.
