Jacksonville, FL (April 28, 2026) – A driver died after a multi-vehicle crash in Jacksonville on Sunday, April 26. The accident happened around 2:40 p.m. on Schindler Drive near Huntington Woods Drive.
Reports said an older man driving a Chevrolet SUV was stopped southbound on Schindler Drive. He was waiting to turn left onto Huntington Woods Drive.
A man in his mid-20s was also traveling southbound behind the Chevrolet in a Toyota Camry. As the Chevrolet began turning, the Camry entered the northbound lane, and the left front of the Chevrolet hit the right rear of the Camry.
The Camry then slid off the road, rolled over, and hit a Nissan SUV that was also traveling southbound on Schindler Drive. The Toyota driver was ejected and died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Additional details may become available as authorities continue their review. Our condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones.
Why Rollover Crashes With Ejections Are Often Fatal
Rollover crashes can be deadly because the vehicle may strike the ground several times before stopping. Each impact can throw a person against the inside of the vehicle or out of it.
Ejections are especially dangerous. A person thrown from a vehicle may hit the roadway, nearby objects, or another vehicle. These injuries are often life-threatening because the body has no protection after leaving the vehicle.
Multi-vehicle crashes can also make the scene more complex. One impact may push a vehicle into another lane or off the road, leading to more collisions. Vehicle paths, turn movements, and impact points can later help show how the crash unfolded.
