Dallas, TX (January 8, 2026) – A firefighter sustained injuries during a two-alarm apartment fire that broke out early Thursday morning in northwest Dallas. The incident occurred at a two-story residential building located in the 9800 block of Brockbank Dr, with emergency crews responding around 12:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, Dallas Fire-Rescue teams encountered heavy flames engulfing a portion of the structure. Firefighters launched an aggressive interior and exterior attack to bring the blaze under control. During the operation, a mayday alert was issued after a firefighter fell from a second-story balcony.
The injured firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. According to officials, the hospitalization was a precautionary measure, and the firefighter is expected to recover.
In total, four apartment units sustained damage due to the fire. Of those, three were unoccupied. The residents of the one affected unit were not injured and were successfully relocated on-site by apartment management. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by fire authorities.
