Groveland, FL (January 8, 2026) – A deadly crash was reported early Thursday morning on Mascotte Empire Rd, approximately one mile north of Justamere Ln in Groveland, Lake County. The incident occurred at around 6:39 a.m. and resulted in a full road closure as emergency responders arrived at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that at least one person was killed in the crash. Emergency crews responded quickly and secured the area while providing assistance and beginning their investigation. Further details regarding the identity of the victim or any other individuals involved have not yet been released.

Due to the severity of the collision, Mascotte Empire Rd was shut down between Empire Church Rd and Agricultural Rd to allow for an extended investigation and scene cleanup.
