Concord, NC (January 9, 2026) – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning near Atrium Health Cabarrus, leading to injuries and a rapid emergency response near a busy hospital crosswalk.
The incident occurred around 4:27 a.m. at the intersection of Memorial Dr and Church St North. According to dispatch audio, emergency crews arrived to find a single-vehicle versus pedestrian collision at the marked crosswalk outside the hospital entrance.
Firefighters from Engine Two assumed command on arrival, confirming one pedestrian had been injured in the impact. The exact condition of the individual has not yet been released, but medics were observed providing care on scene.
The driver remained at the location and cooperated with officials. Authorities temporarily secured the area to allow first responders to assist the injured party and conduct an initial assessment of the incident.
