Catoosa County, GA (January 11, 2026) – A police pursuit ended in a serious crash Friday night, January 9, on Battlefield Parkway in Catoosa County, leaving three individuals injured, including a two-year-old child. The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Thomas Lewis of Chickamauga, is now in custody.
According to a preliminary report from the Georgia State Patrol, the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office was in pursuit of a Chevrolet Cruze traveling westbound on Battlefield Parkway. GSP troopers joined the chase after being requested for assistance.
As the suspect neared the Sentry Station strip center, he reportedly rear-ended a Nissan Armada. The impact left two passengers inside the suspect’s vehicle injured, along with a two-year-old child in the Nissan. All three were reported to have sustained moderate to serious injuries and were transported for medical treatment.
Following the crash, law enforcement officers arrested Lewis at the scene. He was determined to be under the influence and driving on a revoked license at the time of the incident.
The collision caused significant damage and led to heavy traffic disruption along Battlefield Parkway as emergency crews responded and investigators documented the scene.
Charges are pending as the investigation continues. Authorities are working to confirm the full scope of injuries and determine whether additional charges may be filed in connection with the high-risk pursuit and resulting crash.
