Atascosa County, TX (January 11, 2026) – A fatal crash occurred late Saturday night on Interstate 37 just north of Texas 97, prompting a large-scale emergency response and extended highway closure, according to the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office. The collision was reported around 10:30 p.m. on January 10.
Emergency crews responded to the scene to assess the situation and confirmed that the crash resulted in at least one fatality. The number of vehicles involved and the identity of the deceased have not yet been released, and authorities have not disclosed the cause of the crash.
All northbound lanes of I-37 were shut down following the incident, with officials advising motorists traveling toward San Antonio to reroute through Pleasanton using Highway 281.
