Rhinebeck, NY (January 11, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision on State Route 308 on Friday morning left one woman injured and required a response from local authorities and medical personnel.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:06 a.m. on January 9, when a 2024 Tesla, driven by 70-year-old Betti H. Steel of Red Hook, was traveling eastbound on Route 308. According to information provided by New York State Police, the incident unfolded when a 2020 Subaru, operated by 87-year-old Lawrence Gross of Staatsburg, turned left from Violet Hill Rd onto Route 308, reportedly failing to yield the right of way.
Steel sustained injuries as a result of the impact and was transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital. Authorities described her injuries as non-life-threatening. Troopers remained at the scene to investigate the crash and document contributing factors.
