Los Angeles, CA (January 12, 2026) – Authorities have identified the woman who died in a tragic collision involving a semi-truck early Sunday morning on the 210 Freeway near Sylmar. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the victim as 19-year-old Angie Rios. Her city of residence was not disclosed.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:10 a.m. on January 11, along the eastbound side of the Foothill (210) Freeway at the Polk Street off-ramp. The incident involved a Tesla and a big rig, though the exact cause of the collision remains under investigation.
Emergency responders arrived to find significant damage at the scene. Despite medical efforts, Angie Rios was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries have been confirmed at this time.
The crash caused major delays as authorities shut down multiple lanes to investigate and remove the vehicles involved. The CHP has not released additional details regarding the events leading up to the crash or whether any contributing factors, such as speed or impairment, are suspected.
