Raleigh, NC (January 12, 2026) – A pedestrian was hospitalized early on Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Capital Blvd near Brentwood Rd, prompting a temporary closure of multiple lanes near downtown Raleigh.
The Raleigh Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 4:50 a.m. after receiving reports of the collision. Upon arrival, EMS crews provided immediate medical assistance to the injured pedestrian before transporting them to a local hospital. Authorities have not released the extent of the victim’s injuries, though the individual was alert during transport.
The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police have not indicated whether speed or impairment was a factor in the incident.
Three lanes on Capital Blvd were temporarily blocked while officials conducted an on-site investigation and cleared the area. According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, all lanes have since been reopened, and normal traffic flow has resumed.
