Boston, MA (January 12, 2026) – Emergency crews responded to a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries early on Sunday morning in the westbound lanes of the Ted Williams Tunnel near downtown Boston.
The incident was first noted around 1:44 a.m., with emergency responders from the East D district being redirected to assist at the scene. Initial reports indicated that the crash occurred in the tunnel heading westbound, just before exiting into the city.
Details surrounding the crash remain limited, though at least one person was reported injured. The extent of those injuries has not been confirmed, and it is unclear how many vehicles were involved. At the same time, authorities were also managing a separate crash on I-93 South near the O’Neill Tunnel, adding complexity to the overnight traffic response.
The Massachusetts State Police and other emergency units remained on the scene to evaluate the incident and ensure the tunnel was safe for continued traffic flow.
Our thoughts are with those affected in this early morning crash, and we wish the injured party a smooth and full recovery.
