Palm City, FL (January 13, 2026) – A pedestrian was seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Martin Downs Blvd and Mapp Rd in Palm City, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:26 a.m. and prompted a response from both the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol, who are leading the investigation. Emergency crews provided immediate medical attention on scene before the victim was flown to a nearby trauma center for further treatment.
Officials have not released the identity of the pedestrian or additional details about the vehicle or driver involved. The extent of the injuries has also not been publicly confirmed, but authorities have classified the crash as serious.
Traffic in the area experienced delays throughout the morning as law enforcement managed the scene and began their investigation. Drivers were urged to avoid the intersection or use alternate routes during the closure.
This incident comes amid heightened traffic enforcement efforts in the western part of Martin County, particularly along Warfield Blvd, where deputies are focusing on curbing unsafe driving behaviors. The increased patrols follow a troubling rise in recent traffic fatalities—five reported deaths within the past two weeks alone.
Our thoughts are with the injured pedestrian, and we hope for their full and swift recovery.
