La Salle, IL (January 13, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle collision on Route 6 near the La Salle Speedway on Monday morning left three individuals injured, including one who was airlifted to a regional trauma center.
The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m., when first responders were called to the scene following reports of a head-on collision. According to investigators, a 34-year-old woman from Oglesby was driving an SUV eastbound on Route 6 when she rear-ended another SUV operated by a 36-year-old woman from Peru. The impact caused the second SUV to roll over.
After the initial impact, the first SUV veered into the westbound lane, where it struck an oncoming vehicle, a car driven by a 20-year-old woman from Sheridan, in a head-on crash.
Emergency crews from La Salle Fire and EMS quickly arrived at the scene. One driver was trapped in the wreckage and required extrication before being flown to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria for advanced trauma care. The other two drivers were transported by ambulance to OSF in Peru with injuries that warranted further treatment.
Both directions of Route 6 were shut down near the crash site as authorities secured the area and conducted their investigation. The Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit and the La Salle County Emergency Management Agency also responded to assist with scene analysis and traffic control.
The cause of the crash remains under active investigation. Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved.
