Greene Co, MO (January 14, 2026) – Two individuals were hospitalized Tuesday afternoon following a collision on Interstate 44, approximately 12 miles west of Springfield.
The crash took place at around 12:15 p.m., involving a 2017 Ford Edge and a 2023 Freightliner truck. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Ford Edge, driven by a 73-year-old man from Mountain View, MO, struck the towed unit of the Freightliner while both vehicles were traveling westbound.
Cox EMS responded to the scene and transported the Ford’s driver, along with a 70-year-old male passenger, to Mercy Springfield for treatment of injuries. The driver of the Freightliner, a 35-year-old man from Mount Prospect, IL, was not injured and was able to drive the truck from the scene.
Authorities noted that both occupants of the Ford Edge were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was secured roadside after the crash.
