Chicago, IL (January 14, 2026) – A vehicle collision resulting in injuries was reported early Tuesday morning near the intersection of Cermak Rd and Kedzie Ave in the South Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago.
Initial reports indicate that the crash occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. beneath the viaduct at the Cermak and Kedzie junction. A white SUV was identified at the scene with visible damage, reportedly struck while positioned under the overpass. Emergency medical crews were swiftly dispatched and arrived at the scene to attend to those injured.
Traffic in the westbound lanes of Cermak Rd experienced delays as emergency units worked the area. Details regarding any other vehicle involved were not immediately available, and authorities have yet to confirm how many individuals required treatment.
Chicago Fire Department personnel assisted those on-site while police began an initial investigation to determine what led to the crash. The scene remained active through the early morning commute.
