Alleghany County, VA (January 14, 2026) – A tragic single-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 claimed the life of a 91-year-old man Tuesday morning in Alleghany County, according to the Virginia State Police (VSP).
The incident occurred at approximately 11:16 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-64 near the 1.1-mile marker. VSP investigators reported that a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek was traveling east when it lost control, veered across the median and into the westbound lanes, ultimately striking a guardrail.
The driver, identified as Billy Jack Camden of Covington, was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was transported to Lewis Gale Alleghany Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to lose control, and the crash remains under active investigation by Virginia State Police.
