Phoenix, AZ (January 14, 2026) – A woman lost her life following a hit-and-run crash that occurred Monday night near the intersection of 35th Avenue and Thunderbird Road in northwest Phoenix. Authorities say the incident took place just before 7:30 p.m. on January 12.
Responding officers from the Phoenix Police Department, along with medics from the Phoenix Fire Department, arrived on scene to find the woman in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle. She had reportedly been walking across the street mid-block and outside of a marked crosswalk when the collision occurred. The driver involved in the crash fled the scene before first responders arrived.
Paramedics provided life-saving care at the scene and transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead from her injuries. Her identity has not yet been made public, pending family notification.
Investigators have not yet released a description of the vehicle or suspect involved. The Phoenix Police Department is continuing to search for the driver and is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
