Miami-Dade, FL (January 15, 2026) – A driver was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a canal in southwest Miami-Dade, prompting a water rescue response from local emergency crews.

The crash occurred near the Florida’s Turnpike exit at Southwest 112th Ave. Divers were deployed to search the canal and successfully located the submerged vehicle. One occupant was recovered and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not yet released the person’s identity or current condition.

First responders remained on scene for an extended period to recover the vehicle and assist in the ongoing investigation. The cause of the crash is still unknown, and officials have not commented on whether weather, speed, or mechanical issues may have played a role.
