San Marcos, CA (January 15, 2026) – A tragic collision involving a motorcycle and a sedan claimed the life of a 23-year-old Escondido man Tuesday evening at the intersection of Montiel Rd and Hillsboro Way in San Marcos.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 5:25 p.m. on January 13. According to the San Diego Police Department, emergency responders arrived promptly after receiving reports of the collision. Initial findings revealed that the motorcyclist, identified as Mason William Boulais, was critically injured after colliding with a sedan at the intersection.
Despite lifesaving efforts by paramedics on the scene, Boulais was pronounced deceased at around 5:52 p.m. The occupants of the sedan were not reported to have sustained any visible injuries, and no additional victims were noted at the scene.
Authorities have not released details regarding the direction of travel for either vehicle or whether external factors such as speed or impairment played a role. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances of the crash to determine what led to the fatal impact.
