What Factors Are Often Reviewed in High-Speed Evasion Crashes?
Crashes involving attempted police evasion are typically reviewed closely due to the high speeds and sudden driver maneuvers that can occur. Investigators often examine vehicle speed, road alignment, and driver actions immediately before the loss of control.
Intersections and utility poles can present added hazards when vehicles leave the roadway unexpectedly. Evidence such as skid marks, impact points, and vehicle trajectory is commonly used to reconstruct the crash sequence. In fatal incidents, toxicology reports, surveillance footage, and witness statements may also be reviewed to better understand the events leading up to the collision. These cases often involve multiple factors that are analyzed together to determine how and why the crash occurred.
