Jacobus, PA (January 15, 2026) – A multi-vehicle collision on I-83 South near Veterans Memorial Highway and Dunkard Valley Road on January 14 resulted in at least one individual being trapped inside a vehicle. Fire and EMS crews responded quickly to the scene to provide emergency care and safely extricate the trapped occupant.
Responders worked carefully to free the patient and evaluated all involved for injuries. The trapped individual and other occupants sustained a variety of injuries, and emergency personnel stabilized those affected before determining if hospital transport was required. Police assisted by securing the area, controlling traffic, and keeping bystanders at a safe distance during the response.
Witnesses helped authorities gather information regarding how the collision occurred, while crews worked to clear the vehicles and debris from the interstate. Traffic was temporarily impacted in the southbound lanes as responders managed the scene and coordinated rescue efforts.
Officials continue to investigate the cause of the crash, including roadway conditions, vehicle movement, and other factors contributing to the entrapment.
