Valley Springs, CA (January 15, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision on the 5000 block of Carey Rd resulted in multiple injuries Wednesday evening, prompting a response from Calaveras County emergency personnel.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:22 p.m. in a residential stretch of Carey Rd. Witnesses reported that two cars collided head-on near a curve in the roadway, causing heavy front-end damage to both vehicles. One vehicle came to rest partially in a ditch, while the other blocked one lane of traffic.
Firefighters and EMS units responded quickly to the scene, attending to several injured individuals. A variety of injuries were reported, and at least one person was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Authorities have not yet released additional details about the victims or the extent of their injuries.
Traffic was temporarily impacted in the area as emergency crews worked to assist victims and clear the wreckage. Tow trucks arrived within the hour to remove the damaged vehicles, and the roadway was reopened later in the evening.
Investigators are continuing to look into the cause of the crash, including whether visibility or driver distraction may have played a role. No charges or citations have been announced at this time.
