Chatham County, GA (January 15, 2026) – A man was injured after being struck by a downed guide wire on Highway 21 near Jeffers Rd following an earlier collision involving a tractor-trailer and a power pole. Emergency medical services transported the injured individual to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred during the morning hours. Georgia State Patrol reported that a tractor-trailer struck a power pole, causing the top portion of the pole and a connected metal guide wire to fall into the roadway. Multiple vehicles traveling along Highway 21 subsequently hit the debris, including one law enforcement vehicle.
One of the drivers exited his vehicle to examine the damage when another vehicle struck the wire and pole debris, resulting in injuries to the man. EMS responded to the scene and provided immediate care before transporting him to the hospital. No other injuries were reported, and damage to the involved vehicles was described as minor.
Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate the full sequence of events, including how the pole was struck and whether additional roadway hazards contributed to the incident.
