Palm Desert, CA (January 16, 2026) – A Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy and a pedestrian were both injured in a collision that occurred during a pursuit in Palm Desert on Wednesday morning, officials confirmed.
The incident was reported shortly after 8:30 a.m. on January 14, near the intersection of Frank Sinatra Dr and Drexell Dr. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when a Motor Unit deputy initiated a pursuit in the area of Monterey Ave and Frank Sinatra Dr. Details regarding the reason for the pursuit were not immediately disclosed.
During the chase, the suspect’s vehicle struck a pedestrian who was working in the center median near Frank Sinatra Dr and Drexell Dr. At nearly the same time, the pursuing deputy’s motorcycle collided with an unrelated motorist.
Both the deputy and the pedestrian were transported to a local hospital with injuries. Authorities later confirmed that both individuals were in stable condition.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident following the collisions. Additional details about the suspect or potential charges have not yet been released.
