Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (January 16, 2026) – A violent two-vehicle crash on State Road A1A in Ponte Vedra Beach on Thursday left two people seriously injured, including one woman who was airlifted in critical condition, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred when a 36-year-old woman driving a southbound sedan on A1A attempted to turn left onto Country Club Boulevard. As she made the turn, a 47-year-old man traveling northbound in a sports utility vehicle struck the passenger side of her vehicle.
The force of the crash caused the sedan to veer off the roadway, strike a light pole, and overturn into a nearby ditch. Emergency responders from St. Johns County Fire Rescue arrived promptly to provide medical aid.
The woman suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to a trauma center for emergency care. The SUV driver sustained serious injuries and was also transported to the hospital, according to FHP.
Due to the severity of the crash, authorities closed A1A in both directions at TPC Blvd to allow for investigation and cleanup. Deputies with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control as investigators worked to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Our thoughts are with both individuals injured in this devastating collision, and we hope for their full and swift recovery.
