Mecosta Co, MI (January 19, 2026) – Two people were transported to the hospital after a two-vehicle collision on January 17 along a slick section of 8 Mile Road near 170th Avenue in Mecosta County. The crash, which occurred around 1:54 p.m., was attributed to icy road conditions.
According to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office, a 49-year-old woman from Stanwood was attempting to pull into a driveway when her vehicle became stuck on the ice. A westbound vehicle, driven by a 56-year-old Fremont man, was unable to stop in time and collided with her car.
The Stanwood woman and a 61-year-old female passenger from the Fremont vehicle sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital. The Fremont driver reported pain but declined hospital transport and was released at the scene.
Emergency assistance was provided by Mecosta County EMS, Morton Township Fire, Mecosta Township Fire, Curries Towing, and Mecosta Central Dispatch.
