Cobb County, GA (January 19, 2026) – A man died after being hit by a pickup truck while lying in the roadway near the intersection of Powers Ferry Rd and Sherwood Dr, according to Cobb County Police.
The crash occurred just after 1:15 a.m. on January 17. Investigators with the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) reported that the man was inexplicably lying across the roadway, positioned partially in the center turn lane and extending into a northbound travel lane, when he was struck by a northbound 2014 Ford F-150.
Emergency medical personnel transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet identified the victim, and notification of next of kin is still pending.
The driver of the Ford pickup truck was not injured in the collision and remained at the scene.
