Vista, CA (January 19, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and a pickup resulted in reported injuries early Monday morning on eastbound State Route 78 near Civic Center Dr, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 5:04 a.m. and initially involved emergency reports of a semi-truck on the right-hand shoulder and a dark gray Dodge pickup truck blocking the #3 lane. A black Ford pickup was also mentioned as possibly involved, with hazard lights activated and parked in the slow lanes.
CHP dispatch records indicate the incident was upgraded to a confirmed injury crash (1179-Trfc Collision-1141 Enrt) by 5:15 a.m., prompting medical response to the scene. One of the drivers reportedly contacted a relative for assistance after the crash, though the full extent of injuries remains unconfirmed.
Emergency cones were set up near the scene for safety, and traffic flow was impacted as crews worked to assess the situation and clear the roadway.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
