Miami, FL (January 20, 2026) – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident that occurred Sunday night on the northbound lanes of the Don Shula Expressway (SR-874), near its interchange with the Snapper Creek Expressway (SR-878).
According to authorities, the crash involved an Infinity sedan that collided with a guardrail. The impact caused the driver to be ejected from the vehicle. Tragically, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim.
Following the collision, the vehicle caught fire, further complicating emergency response efforts. Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames, and investigators worked through the night to document the scene and gather evidence.
The expressway was closed for several hours as law enforcement conducted their preliminary investigation and worked to clear the area.
No additional details have been released at this time. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by FHP.
