Harris County, TX (January 20, 2026) – A young boy was airlifted to a Houston hospital Monday evening after being struck by a vehicle while rollerblading in a residential area of northwest Harris County.
The incident took place shortly after 7:30 p.m. in the 15400 block of Gettysburg Dr, near Louetta Rd. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the 8-year-old was rollerblading when he entered a break in the center median — commonly used for U-turns — at the same time as a vehicle. The collision caused the child to be pulled beneath the vehicle before it came to a stop.
Emergency medical crews quickly responded and stabilized the child, who was conscious and alert when he was flown to Memorial Hermann Downtown for further treatment. Authorities have not released the full extent of his injuries but confirmed that the situation was serious enough to warrant a medical helicopter transport.
The teenage driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. Officials confirmed the driver had a valid license and no previous record.
Deputies are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, including visibility and layout of the median area.
Our hearts are with the child and his loved ones, and we hope for a full and swift recovery.
