St. Charles, MO (January 20, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision on Interstate 70 resulted in injuries and significant vehicle damage Monday evening in St. Charles County. Authorities responded to the scene just east of the Cave Springs exit after receiving reports of a serious accident involving injuries.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicated the crash occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. along the eastbound lanes of I-70. A 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 48-year-old woman from Webster Groves, had slowed down due to a disabled vehicle located on the right shoulder of the highway. A 2014 Volkswagen Passat, entering I-70 from the Cave Springs on-ramp, struck the rear of the slowing Equinox.
The impact left both vehicles with total damage and required them to be towed from the scene by A1 Towing. Emergency medical personnel from the St. Charles County Ambulance District responded and transported the injured driver of the Equinox to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital East. Officials described her injuries as moderate. The 18-year-old male driver of the Passat was reportedly uninjured.
Traffic was impacted in the eastbound lanes as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the crash site. Both vehicles were traveling in the same direction at the time of the collision.
Troopers, including TPR. N. Konopelski and TPR. D. Dorff are continuing their investigation into the circumstances that led to the crash.
We extend our well wishes to the injured driver and hope for a full and smooth recovery.
