How Loss of Control Can Lead to Secondary Highway Collisions
Crashes on highways often involve more than one impact, especially when a vehicle loses control in active lanes. When a car strikes a median or barrier, it may re-enter traffic unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a second collision.
High-speed roadways leave little time for other drivers to react when a vehicle moves back into the flow of traffic. Even a brief loss of control can create a dangerous situation for nearby vehicles.
Road conditions, driver response, and traffic density all influence how these events unfold. Secondary impacts are common in these situations and can increase the severity of injuries for those involved.
