Choctaw County, OK (January 20, 2026) – Two individuals sustained injuries on Monday following a serious collision on US 271, just south of the Pushmataha and Choctaw County line.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the crash involved two vehicles traveling in opposite directions. A car driven by 72-year-old Brinda Taylor of Antlers reportedly crossed the center line and struck the driver’s side of another vehicle operated by 74-year-old Wendell Stanley, also of Antlers.
The impact caused Stanley’s vehicle to overturn, rolling once before coming to a stop. Both drivers were hurt in the crash and received medical attention following the incident. The severity of their injuries has not yet been publicly confirmed.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist the injured and clear the wreckage from the rural stretch of highway. Authorities have not yet determined what may have caused Taylor to veer into the opposing lane.
US 271 was partially blocked during the response, though traffic has since returned to normal.
An investigation is ongoing as troopers continue to gather information on the events that led to the crash.
We extend our thoughts to Brinda Taylor and Wendell Stanley and hope for their full and speedy recoveries.
