Ontonagon Co, MI (January 21, 2026) – A tragic car accident on Monday morning in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula claimed the life of a 24-year-old man from Hudson, Wisconsin, and left another person injured, according to authorities.
The fatal crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. on January 19 along US-45 near Gauthier Rd in Stannard Township. Responding units from the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office, supported by local and state agencies, arrived to find a severely damaged vehicle and two occupants at the scene.
Andrew Scott Bjork, 24, of Hudson, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead following the collision. A second individual, whose identity has not been released, was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials have not yet disclosed the cause of the crash, and an investigation remains ongoing to determine contributing factors. Road conditions at the time have not been confirmed, and no other vehicles have been officially reported as involved.
The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, with assistance from state troopers and emergency medical teams.
