Terre Haute, IN (January 21, 2026) – Emergency crews were dispatched to a vehicle accident near the intersection of East Hawthorne Ave and North 25th St on the morning of January 19. The crash prompted a multi-unit response from fire, EMS, and police, with initial concerns that the incident might require air medical transport.
The collision involved an elderly male driver who had reportedly pulled over to send a text when the crash occurred. Early reports cited unknown injuries, and Lifeline air EMS was briefly placed on standby. However, once police and medics arrived on scene, it was determined that the driver had sustained only a non-life-threatening arm injury.
Responders from Engine 7, Medic 9, and additional units assessed the situation, treated the injury, and canceled the air medical request. The scene was secured without further complications, and traffic was minimally affected during the emergency response.
Authorities have not yet released full details about how the crash happened or whether other vehicles were involved. The incident remains under review by local law enforcement.
We wish the injured individual a full recovery and commend the quick action of emergency crews at the scene.
