Palermo, CA (January 23, 2026) – A serious two-vehicle collision caused injuries Thursday night on State Route 70 near Palermo Rd in Butte County. The crash occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. and led to a multi-agency emergency response, including Butte County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol.
The incident involved a gray truck and another unspecified vehicle. One female occupant was reported trapped inside a vehicle at the time of the crash. Emergency responders worked to extricate the victim and provided immediate medical care. Additional injuries were also reported, although the extent has not been fully released.
The crash forced the closure of both southbound lanes for vehicle recovery and investigation. One of the vehicles had veered into a ditch, prompting law enforcement to utilize drones and K9 units to search the surrounding area, including a nearby field and clump of trees along a dirt road near a residence on SR-70.
Towing services were called to handle the heavily damaged vehicles, which sustained significant front-end impacts.
