Johnson Co, MO (January 23, 2026) – Two women were seriously injured on Thursday afternoon following a violent collision at the intersection of MO-FF and US-50. The crash involved two vehicles and required emergency response from multiple agencies.
According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. when a 2021 GMC, driven by a 22-year-old woman from Knob Noster, entered the highway and collided with a 2021 Ford Explorer traveling westbound. The impact caused the Explorer to leave the roadway and come to rest in a nearby ditch.
Johnson County Ambulance District (JCAD) medics arrived quickly and provided emergency care at the scene. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and sustained serious injuries. The 22-year-old and the 59-year-old driver of the Ford Explorer, from Blue Springs, were transported by ambulance to Research Medical Center for further treatment. Tip Top Towing removed both heavily damaged vehicles from the crash site.
Investigating officers noted that the crash occurred as the GMC crossed into oncoming traffic. The cause remains under review, and troopers are working to determine whether visibility or other contributing factors played a role in the crash.
Trooper S.L. Edwards led the investigation with assistance from Troopers G.A. Stineman and B.S. Lautenschlager. Authorities have not issued citations at this time.
