Meigs County, OH (January 24, 2026) – A deadly collision between a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle claimed the life of 35-year-old Anthony Delong of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, on January 23, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 6:50 p.m. along the westbound lanes of US-33 when a tractor trailer attempted to back into a private lot, obstructing the roadway. Delong, who was driving westbound, was unable to avoid the semi and collided with the trailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
The driver of the tractor trailer was evaluated and treated on-site by Meigs County EMS. US-33 was shut down for approximately four hours as law enforcement and crash reconstruction teams worked the scene.
Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Meigs County EMS, Lebanon Township Fire Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home, and the Meigs County Coroner.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
