Baltimore, MD (January 24, 2026) – A 68-year-old man was injured in a two-vehicle crash near Eastern Ave on January 23 and was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center under a priority two trauma status. The man, who was driving at the time of the collision, reported abdominal tenderness and back pain following the crash.
The incident occurred when a vehicle in front attempted a U-turn, prompting the man to try and swerve onto the curb to avoid impact. Despite his efforts, the collision occurred on the passenger side of his vehicle. Airbags deployed, and he was wearing a seatbelt at the time. Although no signs of a head strike were confirmed, he did report being struck by the airbag.
Medical personnel noted tenderness and possible rib deformity in the left upper quadrant of the abdomen. The patient also complained of numbness in his left side, though he had a history of reduced sensation due to a prior limbectomy. All extremities showed normal motor and sensory function, and no major deformities were observed.
His vital signs remained stable throughout transport, and lung sounds were reported to be clear. Another passenger from the vehicle was transported separately by a different EMS unit for evaluation.
Baltimore County Ambulance 45 transported the patient with an estimated 10- to 15-minute arrival time at Bayview, classifying the case as a Category C trauma.
We wish the injured man a full and steady recovery and hope all parties involved receive the care they need.
