Rochester, MI (January 24, 2026) – A tragic crash involving a Rochester Community School District bus resulted in one fatality on Saturday morning. The incident occurred as two school buses were transporting a group of 60 students to a scheduled school event in Lakeland.
At some point during the trip, one of the buses collided with a passenger vehicle. The male driver of that car sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released, and further details regarding the cause of the collision remain under investigation.
Emergency responders arrived quickly to assist, and no injuries were reported among the students or staff aboard either school bus. Following the crash, all students were safely transferred to the second bus, which returned them to Stoney Creek High School.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances that led to the collision, and more information is expected as the investigation continues.
