Southington, CT (January 24, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle accident involving six vehicles shut down parts of I-84 West on January 24, resulting in six individuals being transported for medical treatment, including three trauma alerts.
The crash occurred between exits 32 and 31 and affected both directions of the highway. While no extrication was required, emergency responders requested four additional ambulances and an AMR supervisor due to the number of injured occupants. Traffic was severely impacted, with I-84 West fully closed between the listed exits and only one lane open on the eastbound side.
Responders worked rapidly to treat the injured on scene and coordinate transportation to nearby hospitals. The identities of those involved and the exact causes of the collision have not been disclosed. Connecticut State Police and local agencies are continuing to investigate.
Our thoughts are with all six individuals injured in this collision, and we hope for their full and swift recovery.
