San Diego, CA (January 25, 2026) – A motorcyclist sustained extensive injuries in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning near W Arbor Dr in San Diego. The collision occurred around 1:30 a.m. on January 24 and prompted a trauma response from local emergency medical crews, including UCSD Medic 32.
According to medics, the crash involved a 31-year-old man who was traveling at freeway speed when he collided with a vehicle, lost control, and laid the motorcycle down. The rider reportedly tumbled several times across the roadway, resulting in severe road rash across much of his body, including his thighs, arms, and right hip. One area of his right elbow appeared to be abraded down to the bone.
Despite the high-impact nature of the incident, the rider remained alert and oriented at the scene, with no loss of consciousness reported. He was wearing a full-face helmet but had only light protective clothing, contributing to the severity of his injuries. Medics described his condition as serious, with pale and diaphoretic skin, and noted that he was transported to a nearby trauma center for further treatment.
The accident occurred in the vicinity of W Arbor Dr, not far from UC San Diego Medical Center. Authorities have not released the identity of the injured rider, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
