New Madrid Co, MO (January 25, 2026) – A serious collision involving two semi-trucks on Interstate 55 left three people injured on Saturday afternoon, with emergency responders rushing to the scene approximately two miles south of Marston.
The crash took place at around 2:20 p.m. on January 24, along the southbound lanes of I-55. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer veered off the right side of the roadway and struck the rear of another southbound 2024 Freightliner’s towed unit. The impact caused the second truck to overturn, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles.
Emergency personnel from New Madrid County EMS arrived quickly and provided aid to all individuals involved. A 25-year-old male driver from Lexington, SC, operating the 2024 Freightliner, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. The driver of the 2023 Freightliner, a 26-year-old man from Mexico, suffered moderate injuries. A 31-year-old male occupant in the same vehicle, who was not wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries. Both were transported to St. Francis Medical Center for further care.
Sullivan’s Towing was called to remove the heavily damaged commercial trucks from the scene. Troopers with Troop E are handling the investigation and working to determine the full sequence of events that led to the rear-end collision and subsequent overturn.
Authorities have not released any findings regarding mechanical issues or road conditions at this time. Traffic delays were reported in the area as crews cleared the wreckage and ensured the roadway was safe for travel.
