St. Louis, MO (January 25, 2026) – A chain-reaction collision involving five vehicles, including multiple commercial trucks, led to injuries and major traffic disruption on eastbound I-44 just west of Lewis Rd late on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred on January 24 at approximately 11:34 a.m. when a 2018 Kenworth T68, operated by a 34-year-old male from Philadelphia, began to skid and lost control in lane one. The out-of-control semi sideswiped another vehicle, then struck the rear of a 2025 Volvo tractor-trailer, causing a domino effect that impacted three more eastbound vehicles: a 2021 Freightliner, a 2018 Ford Explorer, and a 2005 Toyota Camry.
Emergency responders from the Eureka Fire Protection District arrived promptly and provided aid to the injured driver of the Kenworth, who suffered injuries. He was transported to SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton for further treatment. The remaining drivers involved, ranging in age from 27 to 60, did not report injuries, and all were properly restrained.
The Kenworth sustained total damage and had to be towed from the scene by McNamara’s Towing. The other four vehicles, despite sustaining minor to moderate damage, were able to be driven away.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C, including TPR A.P. Billiot and assisting officers, is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision. Weather and road conditions may have contributed to the initial loss of control, though official findings have not yet been released.
Our thoughts go out to the injured driver, and we wish him a smooth and complete recovery following this multi-vehicle crash.
