Orangevale, CA (January 28, 2026) – Two teenage boys were hospitalized with serious injuries Monday morning after crashing a dirt bike into an SUV near Trajan Elementary School in East Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on Trajan Dr near Central Ave, where authorities say the boys were riding a Honda 150R dirt bike southbound. As a Toyota 4Runner attempted to turn left into the school parking lot from the northbound side of the road, the motorcycle collided with the SUV. Both teens were ejected from the bike on impact.
Emergency medical teams responded quickly to the scene and transported both boys to local hospitals. Officials confirmed the riders suffered facial fractures and possible head trauma. Their conditions remain undisclosed, but CHP characterized the injuries as potentially major.
Preliminary findings suggest the 16-year-old rider may have been operating the dirt bike recklessly prior to the crash. CHP has also indicated that alcohol or drug use could have been a contributing factor, though toxicology results have not been confirmed.
The roadway remained open following the crash, though officers were on scene for some time conducting interviews and collecting evidence.
Our thoughts are with the injured boys and their families, and we hope for a full and safe recovery.
