Chula Vista, CA (January 29, 2026) – One person sustained a head injury following a traffic accident that occurred late Wednesday morning on the northbound side of I-85 just south of Ann Street in Montgomery. The incident brought a swift response from Montgomery Fire and Rescue as well as local law enforcement.
The crash was reported around 10:40 a.m. and initially involved at least one vehicle that remained at the scene. Authorities stated that another vehicle may have fled prior to the arrival of first responders. Paramedics provided immediate assistance to the injured individual, who was reportedly suffering from a head injury. That person was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted as crews worked to manage the scene and gather evidence related to the crash. Law enforcement officials conducted interviews with witnesses and are reviewing available surveillance footage to identify the vehicle that left the scene.
The Montgomery Police Department has opened an investigation and is urging anyone with additional information to come forward. It is not yet known whether impairment, distraction, or other factors played a role in the incident.
