Akron, OH (January 30, 2026) – Emergency crews responded early on Thursday morning to a serious vehicle accident involving entrapment on Interstate 77 near Vernon Odom Blvd in Akron.
The crash occurred just after midnight on January 29 in the northbound lanes of I-77 near Severn Ave. Multiple units, including Engine Four, Rescue Four, and a battalion team, were dispatched to the scene following reports of a collision that left at least one individual trapped inside a vehicle.
Firefighters and medics worked urgently to extricate the trapped person and provide medical treatment at the scene. Due to the nature of the crash, additional resources were deployed to support rescue operations. It remains unclear how many vehicles were involved or the extent of the injuries sustained.
Authorities closed portions of I-77 northbound for a period of time while emergency personnel managed the scene and ensured the safety of everyone involved. An investigation is underway to determine what led to the crash.
