St. Louis, MO (January 30, 2026) – A two-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 70, just east of Hanley Rd, resulted in injuries to two individuals on Thursday evening.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 5:48 p.m. when the driver of a 2001 Jeep Cherokee attempted to shift from lane two to lane one to avoid a vehicle ahead. In doing so, the 21-year-old St. Louis man lost control of the Jeep after hitting debris in the roadway. The vehicle then veered and struck the rear of a 2023 Nissan Rogue driven by a 36-year-old woman from Belleville, IL.
Emergency services from Northeast Fire arrived quickly at the scene. A 19-year-old male passenger from Gastonia, NC, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained moderate injuries. The driver of the Jeep also suffered minor injuries. Both were transported to Barnes Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Nissan was not injured and was able to drive her vehicle from the scene.
The Jeep Cherokee was significantly damaged and removed by Terry’s Towing. The crash remains under investigation with assistance provided by Msgt. D. L. Bilyeu and Cpl. J. E. Lacy.
